Toile de Korea
A toile de jouy jungle imagined through the lens of Korean landscape painting
This piece was originally created as part of my Toile de Korea series — a reinterpretation of classic Toile de Jouy using Korean visual language. It blends a lush jungle scene with East Asian brushwork, delicate textures, and layered composition.
A tiger and a monkey appear in quiet tension across the frame, surrounded by blooming flora and distant elephants. The foliage is rendered in restrained blues and muted pastels, while the animals stand out in vivid color, anchoring the moment between stillness and movement.
This artwork was later selected by traditional dessert brand The Hangabin for a collaborative project featured in the exhibition Art Marble. The piece became part of a cross-disciplinary exploration where traditional Korean confections met contemporary art.
Created through a hybrid process of AI generation and hand-drawn detailing, this work continues my interest in reimagining cultural motifs through modern storytelling.
Originally created as an independent work. Featured in collaboration with The Hangabin for the exhibition “Art Marble.” Open to future collaborations in product, exhibition, and editorial contexts.
